Visit of a high govt. official

Today, our Agargaon Center was visited by Mr. Iftekhar Mahmud Hasan, Additional Secretary to the govt. of Bangladesh, Ex DG, NGO Affairs Bureau. He was impressed with our ECD program. He was very pleased to know that we are implementing govt. education in our ECD program and providing dignified services to the slum children.

Sirmaya a dancing doll

When she was younger Sirmaya wanted to go abroad for work but after the plane crash in Manohara she is too afraid to fly. Her new dream is to focus on her wonderful dancing skills and to become a dance instructor. She practices with her sister every day at home.

Anjana cooks well

Anjana is 15 years old has been a part of After School Program (ASP) for 3 years. Tutoring during ASP has helped her pass all of her exams and especially excel in social studies. She is one of four students who receive all of the required school notebooks from ASP. But Anjana’s favorite part of ASP is getting to work with her best friend Akriti.

Maya joins the mom’s club

Fortunately, in February, she found a job at SHINE cleaning company through the help of INCLUDED Nepal’s Program Officer, Smriti Karki. “The pay is perhaps the same as what I earned from selling one mattress, however, this is much more stable and has made things more comfortable for us.”

Mr. Iqbal Ahmed, Director - Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt. of Bangladesh visited our Agargaon Community Center on 10th May. He was instrumental during our registration process. The ECD children getting introduced with him, expressed their interest to become a diplomat of the country i.e. as big as him, in this fashion!

Reading is fun!

Our After School Program (ASP) has various activities, library hours is one them. Students can access the center library and enjoy reading books. They can also watch different video programs on the TV there. The younger children are helped the by the volunteer teachers during this library hour.

No more wandering

When asked about the After School Program’s role in his life and how it has changed him, thirteen year old Manish Basnet promptly said, “Since I joined 3 years ago, it has helped me keep my act together. I don’t know how to describe its importance in my life. All I can say is, if we ever move away from this settlement, I will ride a bus back here every day so that I can attend the program.”

Room to Read for INCLUDED

Recently Room to Read donated 41 titles and about 250 copies of children books to the libraries situated inside the Community Centers in Dhaka operated and funded by INCLUDED.

Induction for the Community Center Staffs

We organised an ''Induction for the Community Center Staffs'' on 22nd March. All staffs working in the two community centers participated along with the two EDs of our two partner organisations. Parenting Module Orientation
